How does a Brazilian butt lift (BBL) work?

Brazilian butt lift consists of the following stages: liposuction, processing fat, and injecting fat.

First, the surgeon determines what areas can be the right donor areas of fat through a comprehensive 360-perspective examination. Hips, abdomen, thighs, lower waist, and back are usually the potential donors because of their excess fat. 

The surgeon harvests the fat via liposuction when the donor areas are identified. Before any transfer or placement, the harvested fat undergoes refinement processes for maximum viability. Next, the purified fat cells are injected into the buttocks through three to five small incisions. 

The procedure typically requires general anesthesia or local anesthesia in case of a small amount of fat transfer.   

How long does it take to recover from buttock augmentation?

Resuming work is usually possible in about 10-14 days after the buttock plastic surgery, but you need to avoid sitting and sleeping on the back until the targeted areas are healed. By the 8th week, sitting gets easier, and you can slowly return to normal activities, following your doctor's advice. The full recovery from a Brazilian butt lift usually takes 2-3 months, but in some cases, it might take up to six months to show its final results. 

How long does a fat transfer last in the buttocks?

Butt Augmentation surgery with fat transfer usually lasts long, considered to be semi-permanent. Most of the transferred fat survives, and the procedure does not typically require revisions. Nonetheless, aging makes no exception and might affect the shape and tightness of your buttocks.
